What is Microblading?

Microblading, which is also called micropigmentation, micro stroking, eyebrow feathering and eyebrow embroidery, is a semi-permanent  treatment, which makes your natural eyebrows look fuller and bolder.

This treatment is performed by a special trained professional who is injecting pigment into the dermis with a use of a hand tool with microblade. As a result, hair-like strokes mimic natural eyebrows hair and makes it look incredibly realistic.

Microblading Microshading

What is Microshading?

Microshading, also known as ombre and eyebrows embroidery , is a perfect eyebrows treatment choice for people with sensitive skin. This technique is  similar to microblading, but it gives eyebrows fuller and softer effect. Besides, you might want to choose this technique over microblading if you prefer powdered effect instead of defined, real hair  effect (example: if you prefer to use eyebrows shadows over pencil in your daily makeup routine).

This procedure is done using an electric(or manual) hand tool with round needle which inserts pigment into the dermis and gives it an effect of a powder filled eyebrows.

Which treatment lasts longer?

Both procedures are classified as a semi-permanent and the results typically last from 1 to 3 years. Although, average period for microshading is 2 years, which is a little bit longer than microblading  which results may start to fade after 1 year. After this period you might need to go for a touch up treatment to refresh the look of your eyebrows.

Which treatment is less painful?

Before both procedures, your beauty technician  will put an anesthetic cream on the eyebrows area for about half hour, so at the time of the actual procedure the eyebrows area will be numb and both treatments will be relatively painless.

Is it a different microblading and microshading precare?

Knowing and following the rules of pre procedure is a crucial part and it is the same for both treatments.

  • Have a consultation with your technician before the procedure.
  • Do not drink excessively 48 hours before the procedure.
  • Do get tan or sunburn 2 weeks prior the procedure.
  • Botox and fillers close to eyebrows area must be avoided 2 weeks prior the procedure.
  • For female clients: reschedule the appointment if have a period (will be painful)

Is it a different microblading and microshading Aftercare?

There are the same rules of aftercare you need to follow for both treatments in order to help the healing process and maintain the desired results.

  • Do not get the treated area wet, but clean it gently with a fragrance free cleanser or a little bit of sterile water.
  • Avoid direct sun and tanning salons for 4 weeks.
  • Avoid to use sauna, jacuzzi or steam room for 10 days.
  • Avoid exercise or other activities which causes sweat for the first days after treatment.
  • Avoid using makeup or skin products for 10 days.
  • Use ointment as it was recommended by your technician.
  • Do not forget about your touch up treatment.
Restrictions and Contradictions

Every technician has a right to refuse perform both microblading or microshading treatments if the the client is in one or more of the following conditions:

  • Pregnant or nursing
  • Diabetic
  • HIV positive
  • Suffer from heart disease
  • Going under chemotherapy
  • Has skin disease
  • Other diseases or infections

This is your best interest to inform your technician about any problems you might have, as the results will depend on those factors.

Can you make both treatments together?

The answer is Yes. Microshading perfectly compliments microblading and both treatments can be made for a perfectly shaped eyebrows.

As known, eyebrows are the most defined facial feature which helps to attract attention to the beauty of the eyes and help to express the emotions and to communicate with other people. Unfortunately not all of us got those  perfectly shaped eyebrows and microblading or microshading is a great alternative to eyebrows pencils and other makeup products.
